The Chaffinches visit too!

Here are a few little pictures of the Chaffinch and his Mrs.

The male chaffinch, resting from searching for food a while.

Mr and Mrs Chaffinch. Note how dull she is compared to him, with his beautiful colours.

The Chaffinches enjoy their time here in the garden. They are often seen pecking at the fallen seedwhich lies on the grass beneath the feeders. At first we only had the male chaffinch. A little later, the female joined him. They are delightful birds and the male is beautiful in colour. His Mrs is really quite dull incomparison, but equally delightful. They are often together eating and when they've finished, fly off together

Goldfinches and Blackbirds

Great excitement as the Goldfinch enjoys a feed by the backdoor. They partake in husk free sunflower hearts. they are delightful to watch. They have become a frequent visitor to our garden. When they are not feeding from this feeder you often spot them eating the Niger Seed from the lantern feeder in the tree behind the washing line.

Again feeding by the back door.

Great excitement as the Daddy feeds his baby on the lawn in the morning. All seems quiet at the moment. A precious moment for father and baby.

The baby waits patiently for Dad to deliver its breakfast. Maybe it's the apple which was thrown out for the birds to enjoy.

Spring is in the air

This little water feature is frequently visited by the birds. The Blackbird is often spotted enjoying a refreshing wash. I have seen the Blue tits and Starlings enjoying a dip. Only the other day two Starlings were having a dip together. One had a feather in its beak whilst the other had some twine. Unfortunately, they left their 'toys' on departure.

If you look closely you will see a Greenfinch enjoying a snack. They then enjoy a refeshing drink from the Bird Bath.

Hopefully, you'll spot two Greenfinches. One sitting on the fence the other on the feeder.
Taken through the kitchen window. Quality is not too good.

Again a Greenfinch enjoying its food. this shot taken through the kitchen window, so quality is not so good.

At last the Goldfinches, sitting and enjoying the Niger seed provided in the lantern. They have become a frequent visitor over the last few days. I have hoped that they would follow after the Greenfinches who have availed themselves of this seed too.

The birds enjoying a bath! There is a Blackbird having a bath, notice how he chases off the Greenfinches which swoop down to either bathe or have a drink. He does this several times. Unfortunately I am too far away to clearly see, but you should get the general idea!
